We face an urgent and unprecedented challenge: basic food resources are at risk for many North Carolinians—young and old alike.
  • Full SNAP benefits at risk
  • Government shutdown strained food resources for food banks around NC
  • Food insecurity among NC older adults is severe:
    • 1 in 11 older adults live in poverty.
    • Nearly 1 in 4 seniors live alone, increasing isolation and risk of hunger.
    • Over 177,000 NC seniors are food insecure; 76,000 face chronic hunger.
